In May 2020, operations began at POET’s newest biorefinery in Shelbyville, IN. POET Biorefining —Shelbyville is POET’s 28th biorefinery. The facility will have a production capacity of 85 million gallons of ethanol annually and will consume approximately 28 million bushels of local corn adding $2.8 million in additional value to over 900 area farmers. The biorefinery will employ 44 full-time team members. Due to COVID-19, a grand opening will be scheduled later in the year. In March, members of POET’s executive team visited POET Biorefining —Shelbyville to view the facility and meet team members.
